Daytona500

今日は日曜日。朝起きてピットの散歩。そのまま、ジムに行ってランニングをしながらデイトナ５００をTVで観戦。今年のNASCARの初戦で色々と面白そうな内容があります。正式には去年の最終戦にNEXTEL CUPにはデビューしてますが、JuanPabloMontoyaの初戦、トヨタのデビューレース等・・・。しかし、予選後にトヨタのエースでもあるMichaelWaltripがルール違反で失格になったり、その他のドライバーも色々とつっつかれたり、NASCARもかなり厳しくなってるみたいです。

Since it's Sunday, I slept in until 9am and went to walk my doggy. Than off to the gym for a long run while whatching the Daytona 500 on TV. Thi year's Daytona 500 is quite interesting with addition of Juan Pablo Montoya as well as the Toyota 's in the field. However, Toyota seems to be struggling still and the diqualification of Michael Waltrp has certainly stirred a lot of talks in the paddock. I assume NASCAR is getting really strict with monitoring the cars.

レース前のトピックとして意外と面白いな〜と思ったのが、オールアメリカンレース・・・ってイメージのNASCARですが、トヨタ・カムリ以外の車は（Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Dodge Charger)はカナダやメキシコの工場で生産されてるみたいで、本当にアメ車はトヨタ・カムリだけだとアナウンサーが指摘してました・・・！？！（笑）レースはKevin Harvickの優勝。大ベテランで半引退済みのMark Martinが２位。Kevin Harvickはカリフォルニア州の出身で、カート場で良くあいました。彼の方が一つ上のカテゴリーで走っていたので一緒にレースをする事はありませんでしたが。JuanPabloは１９位。初戦としてはボチボチだったのではと思います。いや〜でも、レースを見ていたら難しいレースだと思いますが、あの団子の中に一緒に入って勝負したいな〜ってとことん思うレースですね！！早い所いっかい乗ってみたいですね〜〜、NASCARの車に！！

It was pretty funny when the announcer actually pointed out that Toyota Camry's are the only american made car in the field since other manufactures cars are made either in Canada or Mexico.... Nevertheless, the race was won by Kevin Harvick who I used to whatch him race in So Cal. I never raced against him in the same category but he was definately one of the driver that I would look up to. As for Juan Pablo...I guess 19th is not bad of a start. The race looks a lot more difficutl than it appears in terms of stratigics and skills...but I would love to have a chance to drive and race the NASCAR in the very near future!!
