Red Bull Soap Box Race

今日は家の裏でやっている、RedBull Soap Box Raceを見に行ってきました！さすが、Red Bull。イベントをうつのが上手ですね〜。メチャメチャ面白かったです。

Went to the Red Bull Soap Box Race today. I was amazed and impressed with how many people that were out there! Red Bull really knows how to throw a good event and a party!!

イベントが始まる前に、家のビル前にある駐車場で腹ごしらえ。駐車場にフードスタンドになっていて、色んなケータリングトラックが来てましたよ。ちなみに、裏に見えるビルが家のビルです。

Just before the event, I stopped at the concession stands in parking lot front of my apartment.

ランチで食べたのは、さいきん話題になっているMarked5と言うトラックでトラックで販売しているライスバーガー。

I always wanted to try the Marked5 rice burgers and finally found an opportunity today.

僕が頼んだのはトンカツライスバーガー。味はボチボチ。モスバーガーにはかなわないな・・・。

I ordered the Tonkatsu Burger. It was alright...not as good as the Mos Burger from Japan.

イベントは徐々に盛り上がり、まずは国歌斉唱。それからスカイダーバーがダウンタウンのビルの間を縫って降りてきました。無事に着陸して盛大な拍手！

People started to get crazy as the event started with National Anthem, followed by the Red Bull Sky Divers coming down through the downtown buildings. Lots of cheers when they came down from the crowds!

そして、今度はNASCARのデモラン。これは、本当のNASCARですよ〜。石鹸箱ではありません・・・。（笑）ちゃんとドーナッツターンしてかなり盛り上げてました！！

There was a brief NASCAR demo run. Yes this is a real NASCAR and not a soap box car...and no S.Speed nor B.Vickers was not in this car!?!

いよいよソーブボックスレースが開始。最初に走ったのは、ホットソースのボトルの形をしたマシン。

Finally the Soap Box Race has started. The first run was by a Hot Sauce Bottle car.

次に出走したのは船の形をしたマシン。

And than a Boat...

ついでにバイクも。

And a Bike...

んでもって、ピアノ。

Piano also...

途中でクラッシュしたけど、無事に完走するマシンも。

Some wrecked machine...but made it to the finish line.

一言で言えばギャグで始まったイベントですが、なかなか笑えます。ギャグを理由に市街地を閉鎖してイベントできちゃう所がアメリカンですよね！？！日本でもこういうイベントやったら面白いかも！！
